I caught them in a creek, in Huntsville, Texas...

With a net, as the current pushed them by.

What are they?

Fish 1 looks like some kind of Centrachid, the Sunfish group, perhaps Lepomis gibbosus, the other looks like a Cyprinella species, a shiner of some kind, but I don't really know.

Try browsing NANFA's site.

ok. had a pro fisherman buddy tell me what they are:

#1 is a pumpkinseed perch

#2 is a shiner

and hereis a pic of my 20 gallon tank...

Cool pics Man....that turtle is cute....won't he start snapping on your fish though???? Which lake did you catch this guys from????

he is less than an inch and a half long...

he just eats turtle pellets and fish flakes right now...

i caught them all in a little pond close to my college...

i caught the pumpkinseed and shiner in a local creek...

all were caught with a net.

For fish #1 I think I can see a scarlet edging on the gill flap, agreeing with the pumpkinseed sunfish (Lepomis gibbosus).

For fish #2 because of the decurved lateral line I believe to be a redside shiner (Richardsonius balteatus). Another shiner that has a decurved lateral line is the golden shiner (Notemigonus crysoleucas) but my picture of the golden has a sharper fork in its tail.

BLUEGILL! I used to go up to Lake Mead when I was a little kid and I'd snag these things and think of armoring their fins and making a little helmet for them out of tinfoil to create Super Blugill!!! :wizard: Fortunately for the fish, it didn't get much farther than a thought. Anyway, nice stuff.
