Help Me Identify My Plec! (dennis)

I am sorry to hear of your loss matchstickgeezer. :(

Thanks for the reply Kathy, I am aware that I will need a monster tank for my monster plec. :D . I am hoping to get a 6x2x2 or if we move to a bigish house in the future something like an 8x2.5x2.5 would be better. For the moment I coudn't get more filtration on my tank as I have just installed a fluval FX5 which has a claimed rate of 3500lph and an actual flow rate of abour 2000lph which works out to a 2minute change over of the water (it is like a river in the tank) and I do a weekly 25% water change but would do more if needed. I really do want a gibby but I might have to be sensible and stick to the little ones for a bit longer. A LFS near me is willing to swap some of my BN fry for some young peppermints which my wife is saying is more sensible than a gibby at this stage.

Cheers

Dylan

Firstly - I'm so sorry matchstickgeezer - I must've skipped past your post and I'm very sorry for your loss :(

Hi Dylan

I have an FX5 too, brilliant filter. De Niro and Wonka (L077) poo for England so I have to do regular gravel vacs, but De Niro is much more placid and gentle than Wonka, who is of similar size.

Gibbies are fab and if you have the right setup I couldn't think of a better plec. Highly under-rated because they're common and grow so big, but De Niro is by far our handsomest plec (we have a Royal, an unidentified ancistrus and Wonka too).

This is him with Poofish, the ancistrus. :)

Good luck with the Starlights - I've never seen one in the flesh but the pics I've seen online show they're really stunning!

Take care

Kathy
