Someone help please. I bought 3 different types of cory because the girl at petsmart said they would not inter-breed but would interact socially so that I would not have lonesome cats. I bopught an albino, a green, and a peppered. Boy was she wrong. My first time I had 3, then 5, then 14, and then over 200 and it is only been about 7 weeks. I can't find homes for them and I'm going crazy. I cant just kill the eggs as my grands would go nuts. The first 3 batches are in the 20 gal. tank with my 2 glo fish, 4 zebra's, the 3 adult cats, and the 2 male guppies. The kids say I can't put them in the 75 gal. turtle tank because the turtles would eat them. The last batch is in a 10 gal tank. and they look more like a batch of maggots crawling the tank there are so many. Where can I get rid of them. My niece says I have more luck with accidental breeding that most breaders have with intentional breeding. By the way I think I have a batch of baby zebras in that 10 gal. tank as well. Any one interested or know what I can do? Local pet stores don't want them even for free.

have you got a local fish seller besides p@h
if you have they would probably take them of your hands
and give you cash or a credit note so you can get something
from the shop i used to do it with cichlids i used to use the
credit notes to keep me in fish food and treatments

Hi & welcome :)

I would love to rear that many cory fry in one hit

I may be wrong but i think the greens can be colour variations of the aeneus cory same has the albino & bronze,so they probably the ones doing the bizz... Is it a green or a bronze cory?

Do you actually save the eggs? apart from destroying the eggs or leaving the other fish to eat them they will keep spawning until they decide otherwise

Lfs probably wont take them until the reach a certain size anyway.

Raising cory fry can be hit & miss has whether they'll survive to adulthood,so you're doing a fab job for rearing so many :good:

OK so how do i separate the male and female as I woke this am to find about 30 more eggs on the side of my 20 gal tank I dont know how to tell male and female apart and have not found any info yet on how to tell.

Your green is probably a bronze C. aeneus, the same species as the albino. Green is a common name for them. To determine the sex of your fish, look at the from above. The picture below is of a pair of albino C. aeneus. The female is the wider one at the bottom.

Wow further checking shows me you are right and she is the girl caught them going after her and minutes later more eggs on the wall. I think I found another pet shop and they open back up tuesday I will talk to them about taking some of them off my hands. I think I am going to separate the female. until I can gain some control here.
