If you give the fish too much food, the food they don't eat will fall to the bottom of the tank where the snails will eat it. The more food snails have, the better they reproduce. So giving the fish more food than they can eat results in huge numbers of snails.
The way to stop them reproducing too much is to make sure you only feed the fish as much as they can eat in a couple of minutes so that there is no food left over to fall to the bottom of the tank.

Thanks Will make sure I don't overfeed. The diet they have is:
Monday: Tiny pinch of flake food and some pellets for the catfishes.
Tuesday: Same as Monday
Wednesday: Bloodworm
Thursday: Miss a day
Friday: Same as Monday
Saturday: Same as Monday
Sunday: Same as Monday
They are fed once a day except Thursday. There are more food options like algae wafers e.c.t but this is this weeks food timetable. Is it about right?

If you can get a few assassin snails ( Clea helena ) they are a cool looking snail and they will keep the MTS under control.
