so, yesterday i unfortunatly lost one of my albino corys :( i was only watchin him last night swiming and dart across the bottom of the tank with his playmate.....but when i got back from work in the morning about 11 the next day..i caught my plec sucking on his mostly eating body :-( ive of course scooped him out and it was just his skeleton left with a tiny bit of skin :( i luvd this little guy!! me and my X gf got them and i picked the smallest one as he was a fav, he never did grown so i have a feeling there was something wrong with him as he showed no signs of illness, all the others are alright and to top it of my water stats are fine so i cannot put a source to his death.

but.....today in my lfs i saw this guy!

i mean wow! he/she has such beautiful colours!! so vibrant i just could not leave him there im also unsure of the sex, so

anybody got an idea what he is and his/hers sex??

Yeah looks like a bronze cory (C. aeneus), I think most albino cories are the same species but obviously the albino form.

tbh I've always struggle to tell the difference between C.Aeneus and Brochis Splendens but something about this makes me want to say its a Brochis

Oooh good call Davo, now I've looked more closely it does seem to have a longer dorsal than a cory would, which is one of the differences between the 2.

ok awesome, so erm any idea if its male or female?

I would go with Brochis the green tinge kind of suggests it. I saw some full grown adults at my LFS and my god they were ginormous!! I mean not huge like in general but in comparison to adult cories they were a good sized fish. Nice looking and look fantastic in good health :)

im sure they are brochis, my bronze cories look more... bronze then that brochis

As soon as I saw it I thought "Brochis". I can't tell sex though

i thiought brochis too.
as far as sex goes, someone explained it to me like this once and it made a lot of sense.
look either head on and/or from above..it it resembles a speedboat (streamlined) in shape=male, tugboat in shape (wider at the "sides") its a female.
depending on condition you get it in, may be a few weeks of good feeding til you can tell for certain.
whatever s/he is, very nice looking fish :)
cheers

ok got it, well from what i can see, hes male :)

really? how come? h/she (i think male purly by what im told) is very slim....
