UPDATE: I have fixed the pictures by uploading them somewhere else and added some details of what i think the differences are between the two set of shrimp.

Can you help me ID the shrimp i got a few weeks ago from my LFS.

They were being sold as Anamo shrimp but now i've got them home they don't look very much like the Anamo I already have. Looking around on the internet i think they might be Malaya Shrimp. I think I have 3 female and 2 male, but i could be wrong and have 2 different species

These are the new ones:

Here are my existing Anamo shrimp.

The main differences that i can see are the new shrimp don't have the row of dots along the side of the body in the same way my original ones do. The new shrimp do have a gold/yellow mottled effect that hasn't come out so well in the pictures. The Stripe on the back of the new shrimp is a lot wider and brighter than the anamo, easily twice as wide. Also one the new shrimp the colour on the stripe continues to the tip of the nose which it doesn't seen to do on the anamo. The colour of the new shrimp is a lot darker, almost black at times whereas the anamo are quite see through in comparison.

What type of shrimp do you think I've got?

Wow that turned out quite a long post! What type of shrimp do you think I've got?

I cant see any pics-is this my fault?

Not sure, they show up on my PC and in the bit you quoted?

I've uploaded the pictures to Picasa...

Can you see them at this link - http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/amcleodx/Fishtank

Edit: I've changed a couple of the image links can you see these now? If you can i'll change the rest.

yes that works-maybe you need to shrink the pictures below 100k for attachments.
Funny thing i have amano shrimps that look like yours with the pronounced stripe but they are older and much bigger . Not sure though guy maybe somebody with a higher IQ might know more.

Look like some of the shrimp I have and they were sold as Bamboo shrimps (Singapore fan shrimp)

Bamboo shrimp

Better pic here Bamboo shrimp2

They do look a quite similar, probably one of the best matches i've seen colour wise but but im certain these aren't fan shrimp. The don't have any obvious fans, their claws are similar to my other dwarf shrimp. If one comes close enough to the glass i'll try and get a better picture!

yeah those pictures work, smart.!, (which shop did you get them from round here then,i only see amanos for sale)?

I'm might of solved my own problem...

What do you think about these?

Wild Form Snowball Shrimp

They were in Ullesthrope Garden Centre, hiding in a tank that contained a couple of random fish. It was one of the tanks on the bottom row, the one with 3 big bits of wood in it!

If you want some different shrimp round this way try Maidenhead Aquatics at Stapleton who normally have cherries or ask Ullesthorpe who would hopefully be able to get you some Crystal Red Shrimp as I got some from there at the same time. They are currently running down their stock to have a big clean out of the system so might not have much in at the moment.

Went ullesthorpe last friday for a wander round-off sick from work so it was good exercise,i dont normally buy much from there as the staff dont impress me much,i have had some amanos from there tho. Never seen any other shrimps tho. I'll keep it in mind once they sorted their tanks out.

For some reason they kept the crystal red shrimp in a net in one of the guppy tanks without a price on them so i don't think anybody had really noticed them. Plus when i got them most had lost the red and didn't look very impresive. They have coloured up nicely now, hopefully they will start breeding soon!

To be honest i only got the CRS there because it was the first time i've ever seen them not on a computer screen

I think it might be a minami. Could you get a closer and clearer picture of the CRS please. I think its a no-entry. :good:

The unknown shrimp could be Minami Shrimp... The descriptions i've found sound like them but I'm struggling to find a good picture :(

Here are a couple more pictures of my CRS, i think one of them is the same shrimp as the first photo. To be honest i doubt they will be a high grade CRS as they cost me £3 each. If I had to grade them I would say they were a mixture of B and C grade with a couple edging towards A. This is probably as clear as I will be able to get the photos. Its quite a big tank, the shrimp are small and my camera is only 2 Meg.
