Yesterday I went to the fish shop to buy a betta and there was a bunch of females that all looked the same. I'd never seen them before and i thought that they where pretty cool so I got one. When I got home I did some research and at first I thought the lines where stress marks. Doing some more research I started to find more species of betta that looked like her, for example the betta picta and the bett falx. But I also found some betta splendeds that looked like her. I came to the conclusion that she was a 'wild type' betta, so she had not been bred to look fancy. Can someone please confirm this, i really want to know now :)

That is a domestic Betta splendens not a wild species.

Looks like it will be a veil tail and I am betting was bought at Petco as a baby Betta

+1 On what Herpchat says :) Pretty wee thing she is too, will look even prettier once she settles in and the stress stripes fade.
..

Yep, as Herpchat pointed out.....female splendens.

You'll find lots of breeders keep the best looking females, and males for that matter, to improve their stock.

Yehh she has coloured up in the body now, It is all a shade of grey. Her fins are really colourful now  and she is defiantly a veil tail. She was bought as a female fighting fish from Petbarn in Australia. I don't think they sell baby bettas at pet stores in Australia.

Ajp, i know this is off topic but you have a fighting fish in a 10 gallon with 10 neon tetras, so the fighting fish needs 4 gallons and the 10 neon tetras need about 20gallon, since they are active fish, sorry but your tank it overstocked
