Help i hate this substrate!!!

LOL yeah that's the way they do here often. I removed all my substrate a month or so back a cup at a time with fish in the tank. Of course I have a very robust bio-bed in my canister filter to ensure no ammo spike but I had no problems at all.
Not a very good idea...

There can be a large spike in water parameters (ammonia) that can kill your fish.
 
It's not really the ammonia that's as dangerous, it may rise a little but it's the anaerobic pockets being released that is most deadly⁰
 
Cory came with damaged barbels upon delivery, store they came from uses gravel.
Unfortunately, became infected and aggressively so. Antibiotics and around the clock care on this fish did not save it.

Save yourself the heartache and not risk this.

Just a quick note...

Don''t believe everything that the breeders do.
From my obervations, some breeders can be quite ignorant in some areas.
And we have breeders who are more educated in fisheries while some are less educated.
Some may even have questionable practises.

These also apply to the fish storekeepers which are even worse.
