That's fine, at least you are not overstocked, you can gain good water quality when you understock with the right fish for the right size tank.

how long is it gonna take til this fish passes on........

I guess I'll have to go get some new ones...any ideas

every time i look at the tank...this fish is some where else.... geez

I no it's awful it can take ages for the fish to die, couple of hours or till tomorrow morning, just lay off buying fish for a couple of days, just to make sure the other fish are ok first, with the fish showing no symtoms if it had a swollen belly could of been swim bladder.

nevermind that thought....i believe the fish has just died....as it is wrapped around the the filter or whatever u wanna call it... lovely

I'm sorry, it's awful I no I've been there, good luck with your new fish.

I no, didn't really give much to go on, could of been old age, sorry for your loss anyway.

Sorry for your loss but could you maybe tell us what you feed your fish? It's too late now and I suppose it would have been anyway but also take a look at this as it sounds similar: http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/disease/p/whirling.htm

Though the site says symptoms include cysts and boils I'm sure this isn't always the case and you did mention darkening and head-down swimming and 'whirling'. Just thought you may find this beneficial or someone else may find it helpful in future :)

Fish can whirl and headstand when they are dieing, from any desease.

Okay....the fish wasn't actually dead. Once the filter was shut off to get it out...it started swimming....so it was alive...but now i think it is dead for real.

i feed my fish TetraMin tropical flakes!

It can take a fish days to die it's awful, do you feed any other foods besides tetra mini flakes, as the need a varied diet like frozen bloodworms, daphnia, brimestrimp, river strimp, white strimp,I only use freezedried tubilex worms with them not being to safe, peas, cucumba, lettuce, broc, etc, as daphnia is good as it helps the fish digest it's food, and peas are very good in the diet.

Next time you go to the lfs spoil them with some frozen bloodworms, they will love you, it's like chocolate to them, don't be surprised if they don't no what they are at first as mine did it.

I know they can whirl before dieing but the darkening and general discription made me think the disease was a possibility. It's best to be aware of those things.

I'm sorry for your fish... and I agree that you should try some bloodworms ;) A varied diet is always best.
