Hi

I have just recently set up a tropical fish tank 30L i had 2 male plattys one small and one large. The larger one is bullying the smaller one so i added 2 female platty's however the bullying still seems to be going on and now the smaller platty is not coming up when its feeding time. Its hovering in a corner and not even attempting to get some food. Is there a method of ensuring all fish are receiving food? I also think the smaller fish (orange in clour) mayhave littel white spots on its side? can you please HELP!!!!

He hides away all of the time - he's petrifed of the large male platty. Ive tried dropping flakes when hes at the top but as soon as i go near th fishtank he swims to the bottom and hides. To be honest he hardly gets a minutes peace from the large male.. Its a shame :)

To be honest i would love to....its not nice watching it happen in the tank. Any advice on how to re-home? can you take it back to pet shop or do i need to find someone who will be willing to put it in their fish tank?

Either of the above. If you live close to another member here and they have room then I'm sure they'd help, and if not, then try the shop, just dont expect your money back :S

I wouldnt expect my money back, i mwill try and see if i can take it to a pet shop that i bought it from!! I thought platty's were nice natured and community fish :)

Every type of fish can have a little evil in them,I had a goldfish when I was young who after 2 years decided to become partial to his tankmates eyeballs :S
Not a scare story to put you off, just saying you have done nothing wrong, just one of those things ;)

awwwwww yuk thats a scary thought!! hopefully it doesnt come to that :-O

Thanks for all your help, I willl visit the petshop tomorrow hopefully the little un will last till then :) :)

Thanks, i feel like such an amatuer on this :) :) I never imagined that i would face all this behavioual fish madness....its like being back at school :)

I was away from fish for 10 years,16 years with them before it,but I felt like an amateur when I found this place,no worries, you never stop learning in this hobby ;)
