Help Cichlids

Help my cichlids are what looks like breathing air from the water surface 2 are fine the other 3 are not whats going on

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate and ph.
Is your filter rippling the surface of the tank.

its a juwel rekord 60 so 60 litre
5 cichlids alunacara
filter is ripping the surface
not sure about the nitrates but i have had to adjust the heating i was running 2 filters and 2 heaters but i have set up a new tank so i took them away
 
The tank is to small.
Water change now to see if it makes any difference.
Do you ahve an airstone.

no, no airstone i have had them for months with no trouble wht has this started now the fishkeeper said it was fine
 
Without stats its going to be hard.
All I can say for now is a water change till you can get water stats in ammonia, and nitrite.

Any signs of flicking and rubbing going off in the tank.
Been spraying chemicals near the tank.

Off the top if my head I'd say increased nitrite level from switching filters.
 
I have a tank same as him tolak its a 12 gallon tank.

just added second filter with carbon sponge i have more carbon and nitrates fishkeeper check my water so i have no details.

heating is 23 c water change once a week but alot of waste i cant suck out
 
If you have alot of waste bad water quality.
Do you use a gravel vac.

fish colour are the same i have malawi cicchlids they are at the top of the tank breathing, im trying to get the crap out of the tank but to much water is draining out

no i was getting one this weekend
 
All you do is get another bucket and get a net and drain the waste into the net, so you are not doing a very large water change.
 
Same as tolak has said you do need a larger tank.
