Hi Folks

Please please please, Does anyone have any tips on catching a marine fish without removing everything?

I have a regal tang with white spot, I have a hospital tank but cant catch the darn thing to treat it.

Failing this, does anyone have any suggestions on treatment that can be used in a reef tank with corals and inverts?

Desperately awaiting some advice please.

Thanks in advance

i had a sick fish that hid everytime i went in with the net. I left him alone for a few hours so he came back out and swam like normal. I fed the tank and got it with a cheeky net behind it. Try two nets aswel

I'm not marine expert, but i've seen many people use a pint glass to try to trap fish in.
Course thats if it fits ;)

im not 100% but i think the galss is usually for crabs and other critter that can climb out. A fish would just swim out wouldnt it?

Thanks guys, I have been trying for the last 2 days, as soon as I open the hood, he is away behind the rocks.

I have just tried holding a glass (containing a chopped up shrimp) in the tank but it was a bit slippy and I was frightened incase I dropped the glass and it smashed on the rocks.

I read earlier about "Quinine" apparently this is a treatment for ich which can be used in reef tanks, has anyone used or have any further advice on this?

Cheers :good:

i dont have any experience in treating fish for WS so cant comment.
See if you can find a list of whats int it?

what feeding with garlic?
can help a fish to figh infection yes, but its not something that is natural to the sea and can cause liver damage if fed too much

Grrr what a nightmare

I have just read on another site that quinine sulfate killed of the LR and snails, so that doesn't look promising either.

If like in the link I posted, the fish is feeding well. so if I leave it and hope it survives, will it still spread to the other fish?

I have a cleaner wrasse in the tank along with cleaner shrimp, so will that help?
The tang does go to the wrasse and shrimps quite often, but is also brushing against rocks, so it is obviously stressed.

Cheers again

A really small hook, line and bait... Might work on something as big as a tang
