Last night, I forgot to completely recover the tank after feeding and the arrowana managed to jump out the tank and go behind my 8 x 2 x 2 tank with no posibility of moving it or getting behind to get him. I spent nearly 30 minutes trying everything to get him out and managed to use the broom to push him to the end of the tank so I could eventually get hold of him.

After clearing all the fluff, dirt and old pennies of him I held him in the water for what seemed like an age until he started to breathe again and come back to life. I let go of him and he would just float back upside down so held him for at least 30 minutes while he puffed and panted until he had the strength to swim away.

I spent at least 2 hours watching him to keep an eye on him and when I woke up this morning after a sleepless night he seems fine apart from.... One of his eyes seems to have popped out at the top, it still moves when hes looking around but the top is definately out :( Anything I can do about this???

First of all, is he in a tank alone or with other fish? If he is alone, I would suggest giving him some Stress Coat to boost his slime coat and MelaFix to help with any other injuries. As for the eye, there's not much you can do. Some veterinarians work on larger fish, so if yours does it may be worth a try to take him in, but if not just let nature take it's course on his eye. If it comes out, be sure to get him into a sanitary tank with Stress Coat, MelaFix, and Pimafix. Watch him closely. If it stays in, hopefully it will grow back. If he is in pain(very serious pain), then try to make him feel better, or else humanely put him to sleep(don't follow this step unless there is no chance at all). I really hope he gets better :/!

He doesnt seem to be bothered by it at all, he doesnt seem to be in pain and is still using it as normal and can see out of it so it still works just doesnt seem to be in the right place.

Ive phoned a few vets and none around here do fish.

It's a good thing thing that he's not in pain :)! He should be ok if he still uses it, but still give him some Stress Coat and MelaFix just in case! Hope he gets a full recovery!

as sad as it is these things do happen, the exact same thing happened to me and i mean the exact same thing i could of written your story, anyway my fish had the same eye problem i was so worried i was sure i was gonna lose her,but it took about a week or so of her being so quite and her eye looking really bad, then after about a week she started eating again and i was like OMG shes eating, then her eye did go back to normal after about a fortnight,so dont worry it will go better on its own, here she is now different fish same story though

Ok Well the Arowana now seems fine, apart from his eye, hes swimming about happily, hes eating normally and doesnt seem to be in any pain.

I will just leave him and hope his eye will pop back in one day.
