Good evening all,

My names Matt. Been a fish keeper for a few years now, caught the bug from my dad who has kept various different fish most his life from tropical to Koi Carp.

I currently have an cheap old 70ish ltr tropical tank but setting up a replacement Jewel Vision 180 tank as a new home for my fish.

Im not a complete noob but still have so much to learn, already I have learned a few valuble tips on here for my new tank. (pics will follow soon)

Currently my tank consists of:

6x Neon tetras
6x Harlequins
1x Bristle nose plec
1x Ruby Shark

I have had these fish for well over a year in the current setup and have been great. Not sure yet if I will add to the community yet but at least they will have a bit more space.

Im sure Ill get to know you all soon :D

Cheers,
Matt

Welcome to the forum Matt. I bet you're looking forward to the new tank being up and running! :) :good:

When you do, i would suggest adding to the shoal numbers of the Neons and Harlequins. Maybe up to 10 of each. Their behaviour will change considerably when kept in larger numbers. :good: Also keep an eye on the Shark as they can become aggressive and very territorial when adult... Although Rubies are less usually less aggressive than the Red Tails.

Yea I cant wait, should look a million times better than the tank I have currently.

Ive heard they can be a bit aggressive but ive not seen any signs of aggression towards the other fish, he seems content at the moment, but i will monitor him,

Thats a good idea about the numbers, ive heard that the bigger shoals are better but the smaller tank was near capacity. Do i need to get ones of a similar age/size as the lfs near me tends to get young/small fishies in.

Cheers,
Matt

the closer the better, small ones will be picked upon and if small enough they will be eaten...
