My name is Trevor and I'm new to the hobby! Looking to learn as much as possible. My main love in life is martial arts, so I'm trying to be more like water! I currently have a 40breeder going through it's initial cycle and am looking to add stone catfish in a group of maybe 10 to 12. I look forward to chatting with you all!

Fishless cycle. Tank is pretty bare at the moment. I was going to cycle it specifically for an Axolotl but changed my mind til I get more experience. Not currently planted, but have been leaning that way in the past few days. Ultimately looking to do some anchor cats/stone catfish in a group of 10 to 15 with appropriate plants and a mid column nano or other small non aggressive species to fill out the stock.

Possibly brown algae (diatoms)...what kind of substrate is in the tank?

The substrate is just red and black slate. No sand or gravel. I'm considering a nice sand substrate for the stone catfish.
