Hello

New to the forum, even though I registered a couple of months ago but somehow forgot about it

I've kept fish for almost 3 years now and I've got a 200 litre community tank.

not the greatest picture (phone) and I think I took this pic over a month ago so the plants have grown a bit more.

Welcome to the forum; good to see you posting!

Awesome tank!! That's the kind of tank that makes me want to try a planted aquarium

Love the tank! What kinds of fish do you have in there?

Thanks for the warm welcome, glad to see people like the tank as much as I do.

I'd say give it a go, I'm new to live plants myself I got them in November and figured I'd just chuck em in, if they work then great, if not I tried.
I got a mixed bundle which came with some root tabs and I've been dosing liquid c02 and ferts and its all good atm.

Current occupants: 1 x Pearl Gourami, 1 x Angelfish, 1 x L092 Pleco (woodeating pleco), 9 x Neon tetras, 6 x Harlequin Rasboras, 6 x Male Guppies and 4 x Leopard Danios

I'd like to maybe add a few more at some time in the future, not sure yet though and they would be rummynose tetras, corydoras and possibly a pair of bolivian rams.

That sounds like a really interesting mix :) - quick question....I used to have a pearl gourami but found it kept chasing after my guppies and tried to nip them :( do you find you have any problems with yours or are they fine together? I'm just asking as i would love to give Gouramis another go (as perhaps I just got an aggressive one?) but don't want to have to give it back again. (like i had to before.)

Mine has no problems with the guppies at all, the only minor issues he's had with any of the others has been with the Danios (they deserve it though) and he would just chase them off.
He doesn't bother with them either any more, he's really peaceful and placid, so I think your right in that you might have had an aggressive one or he just had issues with guppies

hopefully you'll get a more peaceful one if you try again.

Welcome to the forums you tank looks amazing, just trying to get started in the tropical world :D I would love to get competent enough to have a lovely looking tank like yours in time

Thanks, I'm sure you will do, Google, these and other forums are always great for any info or help that you would want and it doesn't have to be overly expensive either,
I picked up my Fluval 200 litre tank with an All Pond Solutions 1400 EF+ filter for a bargain £60 from aquarist classifieds, Ebay's always worth a search too.
