hello,

I have just shut down a tropical tank today and still have the water in my fx5 filter and was wondering if i can make it into marine filter from the water inside and then starting new in a tank.

or will i be best just washing everything under a tap and starting from square 1?

Many Thanks Eigdoog!

P.S. anyone wanna buy a 4 * 2 * 2 (feet) tank with hood light stones open to any offers!

Hi Eigdoog

Most of us on here would not use a filter as you are suggesting, our filter is our Live rock. Some of us use an external or even internal filters to house live rock rubble, phosphate remover etc but that is about it. And there is certainly no milage in leaving your old filter in fresh water to use later in a salty tank, different bacteria.

But, anyways, what are your plans :good:

well i have been saying i will open my new marine tank as i have a small marine tank now but as my oscar died about 2 weeks ago i have lost the feeling for the old tank so i sold them today and opening my new tank soon.
with my marine tank now i have live rock aswell as a filter, i have the jets in my tank so the water goes though the live rock but when i upgrade i dont have the money to fully stock it out with live rock. (new tank size 72 * 23 * 19) i was hopin that the filter will be ok for now.

This is all in my head for now as i hope to move it all over next week (or start)

i feel as if i am just blabbing on about anything now, sorry :p

i have got to go but ill be back sunday. can you please tell me how much live rock would be need for the new tank and what skimmer please as i have no clue and the shop i go to is always tryin to rip me off so i find what i need online from now on.

Tank size:
72 inch
23 inch
19 inch

Many Thanks Eigdoog :good:
