Hello everyone.

My name is Sue and I thought I'd introduce myself. I've had various aquariums over the years and over the past six months have seriously got back into it. Back in March my hubby bought me a 6 foot aquarium (I think it holds around 450 litres). I've fully planted it with Vallis, Elodea Densa, Cabomba (reds and greens), Cryptocoryne and various Java's. Running two external filters and it really is an amazing centrepiece in our lounge!

Now I could do with some advice... my aquarium has been up and running for just over six months. I've got a couple of Gold Gourami and a sailfin plec but now want to stock it. I would rather buy from somewhere that properly quarantine and look after the fish they sell. My dilemna is, do I go down the Angelfish, Rainbowfish or Gourami route? I don't want to make a mistake at this point because I want the fish forever (no intention of changing in a couple of years!!). I want really colourful fish which will add to the greens and reds of the plants.
What would you all go for and any ideas of where I could buy a good stock list? I'm not interested in the Mbuna Cichlid route as I want to keep all my plants and current set up.
Thank you,

Sue

Good morning and welcome to the forum! :good: As for stocking, how about some kribs or rams? Add a school of tetras ans a group of corys?

Welcome to the forum sue
if it helps, i bought my rainbowfish from rats, cats and elephants in capel. they also have a good variety of gourami, and also angelfish.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Colleen, I've thought about some Kribs but I've had them before. Lovely little fish though! I spoke to my son this evening and he said he has a couple of Corys I could have.
Fishyfeet, thanks for the heads up! Are you talking about Kesgrave Tropicals? I went there recently and they do have some wonderful fish. I really do have my heart set on mainly a species only tank and prefer slightly smaller fish.
I noticed that there is a woman in worksop advertising a group of Rainbowfish on Aquarist Classified, I may contact her and see if I could get the lot. At least that way I can get them all at once. I can't find any groups of Gourami's or Angelfish for sale anywhere.
Sue

As has been said before, rats cats and elephants in Capel are brilliant for Gouramis, Angels and Rainbows. They're always colourful and healthy.
