I just would like to introduce myself, my name is Lidewij I'm from Holland and since the end of april I've been living in London. From when I was 15 I've been into keeping freshwater fish but I had to choose between travelling and my hobby for a few years. Now that I am settled in London I can start it up again, only now there is a boyfriend to convince instead of my parents! It never ends does it? Also my flat is great but quite small so I guess I have to start with an aqua 40... but I like the small fish so for now it is enough.
I don't know much about good places in London to go to and get some species I want so that is my first question: where are the best aquarium shops in London?

No, it never ends! I used to work for Aquatic Design Centre in London, and the fish there were ok every time I was actually at the shop..

The best stores in london for me are the Maidenhead aquatic stores and Wholesale tropicals (in bethnal green). I do not recommend Aquatic Design Centre. 1. Staff are dreadful, not often willing to help plus they don't wear uniform so you cant even tell who is staff and who is a customer.
2. Fishes there are way over-priced, bought some fish from there recently then I went to a maidenhead aquatics store and found the same fishes 5X cheaper. Rip off and they have pathetic excuses.

Maidenhead Aquatic stores are probably the best fish shops in london
