Hello Everyone! I'm a newbie to this forum and a newbie to fish. I had them growing up but was never very good with them, my brother's lastest the longest. We got a 10g tank set up before Thanksgiving and let it run (filter, bubbler, and heater) w/o fish until last weekend. This was our family Xmas present and we let my 2 yr old daughter pick out the fish. Based on some research we have 1 dalmation molly(female i believe), 1 black molly (male), 1 platy (red and black - male), and 1 that i think is a big bellied molly. It's at least half the size of the other fish in the tank and has a rather large belly but I don't think it's pregnant. This evening sitting next to the tank I notice a single fry hiding in one of our plants in the corner. I have no idea whose it is or when it arrived. (So far I only see this little one) I am very nervous for the little guy(gal)
I have read that we should separate them with a breeding net but we don't have one right now and we are wondering if we run the risk of damaging the little guy.
Any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated. Our heads our swimming (hehe) and we are also trying to figure out how to explain to our 2 year old about the new baby in the tank....
Thanks all
newmommy again.....
BTW i don't know if there are more fry hiding we have a rather large faux reef with lots of hiding places set up but so far i have found only one
