I have a 10 gallon fish tank currently cycling with two danios. I would like some advice on what else I can put in there, to keep the fish happy, not overstock, and give some variety. I may have to add two guppies. I am also interested in some advice on what I can/should put in the tank to pick up food that is on the bottom or algae, if that ever becomes a problem. I do plan on adding fish slowly after cycling is complete.

FYI, I really like some of the tetras, dwarf gouramis, and tiger barbs, although I know that tiger barbs may not do very well.

Thanks for your input.

Jeff M.

two danios will do fine with any of the fish you have suggested they all seem like relatively comunaty baced fish. the barbs are the more agressive traditionaly tho they are given alot of bad press for the fish they are as they are aggressive "for their size" they are good fish in a tank with other fish that are hardy like zebras tetras and certain paradise fish. when it comes to choosing a tank there are usually the best choiss there infronto of you normally shown as the most popular.

Hi Jeff, all your choies seem good, glad Jamnog said tigers get bad press, i love em, and find them fine, whatever algae eater you get be carefull of adult size as the most common plecos get very big. do some homework before you buy. :D

Hi Jeff, welcome to the forum. For a small tank you are pretty limited as far as algae eaters go, maybe some Ottos (they are happier in small groups 5-6), possibly a nice big snail (but just one unless you like babies  ) some Ghost shrimp may work unless they get eaten like mine usually do :/

You could get a couple of coreys - they stay small and like algae.

Hello, new here and also new to fish tank world :D I have two Cories and they love the tropical flakes that my other fish miss and dodge after them in delight. :fun:
