Hi I'm new to the world of tropical fish,so thought i should sign up and learn how to look after them.
my tank is just settling in and I'm trying to get my water right before adding my fish.
I only have 1 problem at the moment and thats the noise of my air pump,is there a silent 1 i could get?

Hi to you all

Craig. :D

:hi: to the forum , dunno if there is a silent pump though, but if not you'll soon get used to the noise :)

Its the buzzing thats getting to me :) i tried covering it up abit but then it became to hot,i might try putting it outside in some sort of water tight box

If it's water-tight, it's air-tight, so it won't run efficiently.

If it's second-hand, make sure it has the filter pad in it (if it needs one). There might be a place for it on the bottom where the air goes in.

You could put it on something solid (rather than something that would vibrate like a plastic or metal lid), and place something under it like a rubber mat (computer mouse-mat perhaps) or polystyrene to deaden the vibration.

If worse comes to worse, but these.

LOL earplugs just love it

No its all brand new, its just a biOrb Tropical Aquarium 30 Ltr.

i suppose if worse came to the worse i could run a long pipe and run it the garage.

Anyway i have the long hard think about witch fish i would like to start with.I would like some lion heads but from reading about them,it said they can be tricky for a first timer.
