Hey everyone,

Worried about the rock and pressure on the glass etc...

Is 30KG of rock a lot for an aquarium this size? Is there benefit to using actual rocks - these are kind of like granite rocks so no PH benefit like Limestone.

Should I put some kind of plastic under the sand to protect the glass?

It shouldn’t damaged the glass, as long as the top of the stand is completely flat.

Saltwater aquarists add lots of heavy rocks to their aquariums, and they never have any issues.

I have about 30lb of rock in my 29g tank and have had no issues no far.

I would recommended egg crate under the rock, it prevent sharp rock pressure on the glass.

+1 to the above, egg crate on bottom, add the rocks, then fill in with sand.
The egg crate will distribute the weight of the rocks across the bottom glass.
