I just bought a new filter for my aquarium because I wanted to use the old filter which is nicely cultured for a hospital/breeding tank.

But the new filter has a much heavier current that the old one and it doesn't have a flow control. I am wondering if it will affect the platties that I have in there or can they handle the current.

It's a 10gal with 5 platties.

Many thanks

That filter will be absolutely fine. It also has a little nozzle you can direct towards the side to lessen the direct output.

I did try different flow directions but the current is still alot more than it was before.

But if the new heavier current isn't a problem then all I can do is turn it on and watch the platties try to swim into the current. I guess this way they will get some exercise, kinda like running up a really steep hill.

Oh man think about how buff those platties are going to be, I should put them on a high protien diet.

Yeah, it should be fine. Some Platies love playing in the current. Just make sure there is some place in the tank they can go to get away from the current. :)

lol they will be absolutely fine  I have some in a tank with two high power filter output's, do don't worry at all. Unless they are obviously struggling, but I really wouldn't think this would be a problem with your size tank and the type of filter.
