could someone list the ways i could heat Mack's 1 gallon? i'm scared to put a heater in (more clutter to the tank, no way!) and i can't seem to find a proper heating pad. i'm not even sure which one i'm looking for! i only know two, the kind you use for muscle cramps (the disposable ones) and reptile heating pads (which are like, 40 bucks each, i find that insane, considering i can't spend 40 bucks for every tank i'll own, and i foresee a lot of bettas in my room)

help xX

we seem to be in the same predicament - i just recently got a 1-gallon aquascene for my betta ('soobie') and was also looking for heating options. mine came with a light, so i believe that'll help for now.

putting a heater is not recommended - unless you could find a really low-powered (and really small) one to fit a 1-gallon tank. :D

I experimented, well accidently experimented lol I forgot to turn off the light in the tank when I left (thankfully there's no fish in there yet, I'm still in the process of doing a fishless cycle) Anyways, when I left the temp was at 74, almost 12 hours later when I got back the temp was 81. The light will work fine to heat the tank during the day. At night I figure on covering the tank with a towel to keep more heat in. My room averages 55-59 degrees at night during winter and I'd be more comfortable with a small heater though, but I can't find one small enough for a 1 gallon tank.

i haven't got a light yet xX my lps doesn't stock the penn plax light, i might have to special order one if the small pals pen light doesn't fit

xX ahh, the joys of tiny pet shops, they have good betta care, but lack the necessary betta supplies

good tips there.

i was at petco a while ago and was contemplating on upgrading my betta's 1-gallon home with one of those mini-bow 2.5 gallon units. it's got lots of cool stuff, including a nice betta separator. but i was thinking again of the heating - though since it's a bigger aquarium, it'll retain heat more.

anyone of you use this kind of aquarium? recommended?

My 3 gall isolation tank is happpily at 82F from a 10" fluro light. Ambient in room - 68F.

I have a 50w heater at minimum setting for cold days in the winter.

Well, last night when I went to sleep the tank temp. was at 74 degrees. I covered it with a towel and in the morning it was at 72 degrees, eh. I turned the light on at 7:30 am and got home around 1:30 pm, the temperature has risen 4 degrees in 6 hours, this is with a 7 watt light. I think I should be ok for winter.....
