Hi was wondering if anyone could tell if one 300watt heater is enough for a 90 u.s Gallon tank or should i have one at each end so they are not on all the time? Also wonder if a Fluval 204 offers enough flow and filtration for this size tank? Thanks :D

well first of all what kind of heater? I dont know if only one 300 watt heater would work and if i was u i would buy 2 300 watt heaters at each side of the tank as u mentioned. Im just saying 2 of them just in case one fails or if one doesnt have enough power to heat the tank so u can put 2 of them in there. and about the fluval 204, which pumps 180 gph; i have a fluval 304 in my 60 gallon tank and it pumps 260 gph. It works great! I think u should get the Fluval 304 or the fluval 404 (which pumps 340 gph) or u can get two 204 fluval filters and have them at both ends of the tank like ur heaters, but i think that would be to many cordds for u? unless you have a circuit breaker. But otherwise just one fluval 204 for a 90 gallon tank is just not enough in my expierence but u decide w/e u want to do. Good luck. ooo by the way gph means (Gallons per hour). Sorry for any confusion.

204 would only make it in a lightly stocked tank, go with the 404 to stock it good.

2 250 watt heaters would be best, get a controller for the 2 of them. If you just put in 2 heaters without a controller, 1 will run most of the tme, the other less. It's nearly impossible to adjust 2 heaters the exact same.

Thanks for the info.I have actually been looking at getting a fluval 404 and using it in conjunction with my 204?Will defnatly purchase another heater though. What does a controller look like and how do they work?i,ve never seen one before. The lfs's in New Zealand are a bit limited on their equipment stocks and a lot of higher priced, less demand products need to be imported.
