So ive given up on the idea of trying to run my ETH 300w on my Fluval FX6 so i was wondering how many watts i would need to heat a 800litre tank? I was thinking x2 200w heaters?

2 x 300 W, One at each end of the tank is what I'd do.

I have 2 Eheim 300 watt heaters in my 6 foot - I went for 2 just in case. I would probably do 3 heaters just to keep the temperature level and having three will keep the run time on less over all.

Il go with x3 300w then wow this thing is gunna use up alot of plug sockets. It has 8 bulbs, 2 fx6s, 2 airpumps and now 3 heaters

Wow! That is rather impressive - at least you get the energy efficiency of the FX6s :) I would have a look up to see which heaters come out most energy efficient, like I say having 3 should keep them all off longer but different brands will perform better. When I got mine (a few years ago) the Ehiem ones came out best for me and they were not that expensive compared to standard ones.

I'm going with the fluval e series 300w, bit pricey but seems to be the best internal on the market atm. Shame my Hydor eth's cant go with the FX6's as I  can't stand clutter in the tank. One day il switch the FX6's for the Eheim professionel 3 1200 XLT with the built in 500w heaters..... One day when I win the lottery ;)

Lol, I always find that heaters etc just blend in eventually, its what I like about the Ehiem the glass of the heater blends into the glass of the tank. I think a tank with little internal gear would stress me out as things would be too hidden lol.

Yeah I'd probably end up missing the heaters if they was hidden lol... I was thinking I might try and fit a 3d background only a thin one like the Juwel stone lime one but it would cost nearly £200 to buy enough pieces to fit the tank and would involve a lot of bodging so im not really sure if I can be bothered lol. Already have enough to do on this tank like painting the cabinet and all the trimmings so it matches the living room furniture..... Gotta keep the Mrs happy when you've just bought a tank that takes up half the living room :p
