Heater Burn Death?

Looks like I'll need it. One of my Peppered's is lying on his side now. I just dropped the meds in so I hope it isn't too late. None of the others look ill. This is one that has been kind of lethargic the past few days too.

Sorry but not a good sign if he's laying on his side, i think it's to late to be honest, sorry.

I checked on him this morning, he's still holding out. Until he's dead, I'm not going to remove him from the tank. Not while there is a chance at recovery.

Hi Teelie,

I feel so bad for you! You've spent so much time here on TFF, helping other members with their problems, and I know it's always a shock when things go wrong in your own tank. But, believe me, it happens to all of us. Despite your best fishkeeping efforts, once in a while things will go wrong. Now all you can do is medicate, do water changes, and hope for the best.

I'm confident that if they can be saved, you will do it!

Thanks. :) I noticed one of my younger albinos nibbling on a med tablet so I dropped some real food in too and the sick one perked up almost immediately from it's deathly calm resting to wiggle over to the food. I dropped as much near the tablets as I could in hopes he'll eat some of the tablet itself and get the medicine more directly into the body. I was sure this morning he was dead and went to fish his body out when he wiggled away from the net. Could just be my imagination but he seems a little more lively today than yesterday.

Hi Teelie :)

I'm not sure that eating the tablet will make much of a difference, or if it will even be good for them. Usually they absorb the medication through their skin, directly into their blood streams, so they begin benefiting from it quickly.

I don't use Maracyn products, but from what I understand, Maracyn and Maracyn2 treat different kinds of bacteria. If you're not sure what is effecting your fish, it might be a good idea to use both of them. They can be used at the same time.

I'm glad that your fish are eating. That's always a good sign. :D

Well he died early this morning. :( The upside is I was at one of the LFS' here and they have baby Peppered's so I can raise a new one or three, once the current tank is recovered or I move them into their new home in a few months.

Me to sorry for your loss, R.I.P.
