My intended stocklist for my tank includes marbled hatchets. My tank has a glass condensation lid about 1.5" from the water, will hatchets jump and hit the glass  :S :S ? How much headroom do they need?

I'm assuming hitting the glass wouldn't be a good thing

well they might jump once and learn their lesson, I wouldn't worry too much fish are generally quite 'rough' and some bettas have survived a long time out of water (they can breathe air though) so I wouldn't worry too much about the head bumping

I'd say add some floating plants which seemingly discourage them from jumping - gives them more cover etc. And wouldn't worry too much - not the same, but I have discus and if spooked they rocket round the tank and clatter into the sides - after they can look a bit dazed, but always recover. They do this very very infrequently though.

Thanks, I intend to have floating plants. I'm glad that these fish will learn :) I'm moving on from a small tank of danios and platies, and want to make sure I don't make any mistakes!

Watch out, cover any holes in the condensation tray on the tank. I had one jump out of the teeny tiny hole for airline and filter cables  .
