Well, the journey that hasn't even started seems to be over. My husband revealed last night that he doesn't want a saltwater tank. He said he'd let me have one if I still wanted one, but his heart wasn't in it. And I said I wouldn't do it unless he was 100% with me, which he isn't. So there is not going to be a saltwater tank. Really upset, wish he had been honest before. I did all the planning, reading books, asking questions here and then he tells me he isn't keen. And I won't do it on my own. No way. I need support with this one.

So, unfortunately I won't be going marine, well at least not for the next years. The big tank will probably be sold now.

A real shame, but his heart isn't in it and as I said, I wouldn't do something this big which would have such an impact on family finances without his support.

Sad, but it's good that you are together in your decisions. Keep lurking in Marine and learn everything there is to know. Then you'll be ready :) And can teach me :-D

I will be lurking, but I will always be a bit sad now thinking that I can't have my own reef. Why didn't he tell me before? Gosh, men! I understand his reasons and I will not pressure him. I suppose that's one of the things of being in a relationship.

Zod...you're my hero.

Sorry to hear this Salam but just focus on on the exciting times ahead with your other new tanks!

Lol Zoddy, I wish I could.

AA, the tank was supposed to be set up after the rios. I'll be bored without a tank to prepare. Although he said already, he'd be more interested in either Malawi or a South American Cichlid community. Let's see, maybe that could be a project. But definitely no marine :(

I think what freaked him out most is the estimated £1000 start up cost. Just to get going! He is trying to be sensible. Yeah...

My 75g freshwater was $1000 to start up. Tell him it's all the same lol

$1000 is about £600? So still cheaper. Plus water changes are much less! And we got filters et al for freshwater, so would definitely be waaaay cheaper. Decided to keep tank, but will think about what to do with it.

Sorry to hear this Salam!

Why don't you try and convince him that a nano would be a compromise - you get your reef & it won't cost the £££ that he is worried about.

He actually said a nano would be ok, but you guys here got me worried about the fact that it is harder to keep them going.

*wipes off FF drool* ;;)

Picos are even worse. A nano would be ok. :)
