Hc And Hair Grass

I read somewhere ppl plant some water plants in pot, out of water. such as HC.

I tried it recently. I plant some HC and hair grass in a box with soil put them near the window, and water them frequently.

The HC grow very well, and spread everywhere. However, the hairgrass is alway sick, almost all the leaves turn to brown, however it does not totally died, new hairgrass is growing, however, it alsow with brown leaves.



Does it because i water too much or wot? btw, the box does not have any holes at the bottoms, can this be the reason?

If it has no holes then the water could be collecting and rotting the roots.

I suspect, i thought they are water plant, so do not mind water, that is why i water them a lot, and the box is quite shallow acutually.
