After less than two months of my tank being set up ive had a killer boxing shrimp and lost two clowns!!

After resolving that problem ive now got one clown fish with about a dozen white spots and another which was fine last night then floating by the filter inlet this morning and after a nudge swam away but gingerly!

Im just not having any luck wat so ever!!!

No QT to use but have a salt bucket which i use for water changes so ive put them in there whilst im at work with a heater incase they die and i have to move all the rock fishing them out!!

Going to a lsf tonight to get some medicine and look at UV sterilizers!!!
No idea how im going to get rid of it without a QT!!

Ive got almost perfect water perams!!! and been doing weekly water changes constantly!!

Hang on, dont put medications in a reef tank - just get yourself a food safe container, like the boxes you can get from B & Q and set up a Q tank. Also did you get your stock from the same lfs?

Any fish you buy from a LFS comes in whitespot infested water, so you dont just add stock you bought to your reef tank. If you had a fish only tank it would be easier as you can just copper dose and be done with it! But you have a reef and meds will wipe out all your corals. If you have a reef you should invest in a small QT cube tank like a Arcadia 35L Arc or summin very cheap and will save you long term probs.

Now your tank and reef have whitespot all you can do is QT the fish for 4weeks and treat with copper and leave your reef empty of any fish a minimum of 8 weeks to ensure all the WS has died off. As no fish = Dead whitespot.

2 lsfs and a fellow reefer so could have been from any of them :S plus my inverts have come from all over so no way i can identify where it came from

The lsf had no reef safe meds so he gave me some iodine which he said will help! also got some garlic brinshrimp as garlic is suposed to help the fish through it!! im also looking at getting one of these

Ive placed an add looking for a cheap QT tank and it will HAVE to be cheap lol.

Im a little worried about my Goby tho!!
firstly how the hell will i catch him secondly will he be ok in such a small tank with limited hiding places for 8 weeks and hes also got a pistol srimp mate who will be lost without him :p

Thanks

the only med that kills whitespot is copper everything else is BS, garlic iodine are not for treating WS. You can do freshwater RO dips on fish that provides some temp. relief from scraching etc.

So get a a small nano QT tank, and copper bomb all the fish in it and they'll be clear in two weeks.

Copper isn't the ONLY thing to kill ich, but it is one of the most effective but again, most risky IMO.
Garlic helps boost immune system, so no harm dosing that, but the iodine... I have no idea why they gave you that.

Set-up a quarantine tank before anything else.

Also, just a FYI, inverts cannot get ich, it is strictly a fish disease.

Well ive skipped getting a UV unit and putting the money towards funding a QT tank so just need to find a small second hand tank for sale now and I can set it all up!!

Yea I know the inverts dont get itch but i was thinking more about the water they came in! if the came in water that had WS then somehow it could have been introduced into my tank. that was my thinking about that :p

Last night they had no spots then this morning they had just a couple of them so i will just have to try and keep them stress free and well fed to get them through till i get another tank!

any ideas on catching a yellow watchman goby?? without destroying the tank lol

Thanks

All LFS water is infested with parasites that will f**k your tank up including WS, its bad practice to pour the contents of a livestock bag straight into your main tank even if it is just an invert.
Never mix LFS water with your water, coz your just asking for trouble! Instead take whatever livestock you have in the bag out by hand / net and put it in yourself without pouring the water it came in into your tank. That way you minimize the risk of contamination, if its fish then QT them even with corals take em out by hand and place em in your tank.
