Have You Tried Potato?

Well, I tried the potatoe last night!!! Not to sure if its a hit or not. The pleco's like it. The corys and yoyos kind of checking it out... will see how it looks after work!

Flame - I don't know why a potato wouldn't fit on a screwcumber - they are about the same size as cucumbers so I would assume it would work! I can't believe your BN doesn't like cucumber! Do you leave it in for 24 hrs? Maybe try zuccinni!

1. I tried feeding cucumber with the skin on - the BN liked it but took ages to eat
2. I tried feeding cucumber with no skin on - the only fish that ate it were some platties i had
3. I tried boiling the cucumber as a book suggested - No fish went near it

Should i continue to do N.o 1?

Will try potato.

Anyone tried brussel sprouts? None of my fish like them.

Number one seems to work best for me. I have to leave it in overnight (about 24 hrs total). They eat the whole inside and leave just the skin/rind.

Just spoken to my husband he's a farmer and said remove the skin as that where the chemicals are.

my plecos love cucumber, i just attach it to a lead plant weight and its gone within 24hrs.
the potato wasnt a hit at all and the pleco hardly touched it :/

not tried peas yet, how do u sink them?

If you mush them between your fingers first they will sink. :)

Yea I used to mush them out of the skins, the goldfish couldn't really eat them otherwise. Squeeze them out of the skins and let the "guts" fall into the water....the fish will devour it. Disgard the skins.

Never tried potatoe can you cook it for a while, don't think mine would like it raw.

....weird that potatoes would have a lot of chemicals on them.....I thought they grew completely underground?

My gardener friend said that it's because potatoes ARE grown underground, that they have the most pesticides of all vegetables. Apparently it takes strong pesticides, and lots of them, to kill the large number of pests that live in soil. "Buy organic"!

Potatoes were not a very big hit in my tanks. I think only my tiniest BN sucked on it.
The loaches checked it out briefly as did the corys, but i dont think either of them had much. Oh well, live and learn!!!
Peas and cucs are always a hit!
