Have u ever bought a betta from Petco or Petsmart?

Everyone is always saying how Petco and Petsmart are the worst places to buy bettas, but then they have a betta from those stores. Just curious though...

Every store is different. Every shipment is different. My crowntail female that I'm breeding (who's by far the hardiest female I have) is from Petco.

Petsmart and Walmart, yes. Petco, no.

The latter I hear is very bad and I hardly go there anyways. As for the other two, Petsmart is good, but Walmart...

I have VT's from all 3,Wallyworld, Petsmart and Petco

I rarely, hardly ever go in Petco, but today I drove right past Petsmart and forgot to get rabbit food, so I went into the Petco down the street from me. The tanks were sparkly clean, the betta cups were clean as a whistle (bettas still looked miserable though ) AND...the BEST part! They had care sheets on the end caps for each and every fish they sell

Petsmart isnt' all that bad here. They dont' have a huge selection of fish, but the bettas do look somewhat healthy. I got 4 of the 5 males that i have from petsmart, though i wouldn't try to breed any of them becuase they are not that good of a color for breeding.

My petco's fish seem to be better in their nature, meaning they don't seem to be all that depressed. Which is an improvement. I saw caresheets as well

hey i dont have any fish specializing stores near me but it seems like a pet arcade near me is pretty good. one of the employees seems to know what hes doing and the fish seem healthy enough (although im not the greatest judge of fish health) . anyway i dont know how far pet arcade goes but i live in california and they have like 5 of em in my area.

The bettas at petco, for the most part, seem ok healthwise...but keeping a betta that has fungus in cold water where they keep the plants? Ugh. I pointed this out to one of the employees and he tells me the betta is fine and he will eat from the plant roots I refuse to shop at Petco now. The two bettas I have were from Petsmart, that's the only place I'll buy bettas.

I've never bought from the Petsmart that's by me because it's disgusting and all the fish are gross. I do have fish from Petco and Wal-Mart though.
