Have Never Bought A Filter!

Haha! Thanks =D I am rather chuffed with it, just waiting for it to settle even more, still looking a little bit murky.
I'm not sure about a background, I'm gonna wait and see how to plants grow, I think backgrounds can make it look enclosed sometimes.
What kind of centrepiece fish can I get that will get on with my betta? I know the answer is going to be 'not much really' but is there anything that these little blighters can agree with?

Looks amazing :) I have the same tank and I'm jealous now. I used plastic plants and it doesn't look the same :(

Never had a betta so I'm not sure what can be housed with him.

Might have to look into co2 and adding live plants myself

I dont do anything special where my plants are concerned, I don't add anything for them, or feed them with anything!
There are a couple of plants in there that Ive never had before so we'll have to see how they fare!
Would it be ok to feed the fish tonight or should I wait until tomorrow?
And does anyone know how many gallons a 125 is?

33 US gallons.

I'd feed them tomorrow.

Now you have increased lighting the plants might benefit from liquid fertiliser added when you do a water change. A little goes a long way so a bottle should last you a while.

As for what could go in there alongside the betta...... no, sorry, can't think of anything I'd risk with one that's any bigger than what you have now.

Hmm I thought that would be the case.
If i knew at the time of buying him that I would eventually end up with a tank of this size I wouldn't have done it, and would have gone with gourami's or and Angel, but now I'm attached to him I'm reluctant to get rid!
I think he may end up in a tank of his own in my bedroom if I can find space =\

What kind of liquid fertiliser would you recommend?

Even pets at home do theie own brand of basic plant food. I used to use that when I had a smaller tank and found it worked quite well actually.

Maybe ask on the planted section for some basic advice on a fert to use, lighting schedule etc, just to get the best out of the plants, minimise the risk of algae etc. Post the specs of your lighting and see what they recommend - or maybe someone might on this thread.

Bear with your betta, you might be able to put him in his own tank one day. I don't think angels would work in your tank but a gourami might one day.

If you post your exact stocking someone might be able to come up with another suggestion...

Ah great stuff ok I'll look into it. My poor betta's mouth has gone all weird over the past week =[ it's looks split and sore and he has a bulge under his bottom lip. Have no idea why and how this has happened, might post in the betta forum and see if they know.
I will bear with him as I feel bad taking him out, just annoys me how they limit what you can have so much!!

I can't, I swapped with my brother as he wanted something smaller and I wanted something bigger! He has a betta of his own so I can't even give him away to him.
I'm thinking of getting 2 Bolivian rams, or 2 apisto's, both ate fine with the betta apparently.

Well that depends on how your betta responds to them...take it from me it's not always fine...!

Flippin' fish!! Why can't they all just get along!!

Because then it would be too easy and we all love a challenge

Focus on getting your betta well now, he sounds a bit poorly, bless him.

Yeah I know, I'd love to know what's happened to him =\ I've never seen anything attack him so god knows what he's done, just hope I can fix him!

Good luck fixing jasper. Nothing worse than not knowing what you need to treat :(

I'm sure the guys in the betta forum will help if you show them a picture.

Steve
