I don't bite, all that often...
I now have three Tetratec's and a Rena on my tanks. I've also ran Fluval 04's and Eheim Eccos in the past personally. The Ecco and Fluval were trouble from the start. In fairness Eheim Ecco's aren't Eheims product, they are made by one of their sister companies, but Customer service is through Eheim. Parts were easily available when it failed, if you wanted to pay for them, but free warrently replacements were a royal PITA to get. Some Fluval supporters state that my 04 was second hand, true, but so was my Rena, and both were bought from the same person. I like the Rena and find it reliable and quiet, it would have been cared for in the same way as the Fluval also, so if the reliability faults were from the owner neglecting/abusing it, you'd expect similar issues with the Rena.
I find the Tetratec's quite and reliable with perfectly good build quality. They are thus far the only brand I've bought with more than once also, and I probibly will again.
The Eheim pro series is supposed to be the dogs nuts of filters though.
Like Mikeos, I would not take on the trouble of another Fluval at home unless you paid me. OK, mine was second hand, but many people I know have also bought then new, bother the 04's and 05's, and most have had probelms. There are many on here that like FLuval though. I don't know, mebe they just send dodgy Fluvals to Leeds
If it were me, I'd get the Tetratec EX1200, I cannot fault the ones I have. If TT wasn't an option, and I had the cash, I would be happy to poke the Eheims though.
All the best
