Last 2 times that my peppereds have spawned I just left them where she laid them, most of the eggs were eaten, and of those that weren't I had 1 fry each time.
They've just spawned again and I've got around 18 eggs in the hatchery.
The juvies I've got now recieved nothing in the way of fry food, they just lived in my java moss for a few weeks and presumably ate infusoria.
Now, that I've put these eggs in the hatchery can I just add a wad of java moss to the hatchery for them or do I really need to get a fry food of some sort?

I've tried a few different methods and food stuffs, but the best results and strongest fry are grown simply from crushed up tabimins.
Try it and watch them grow!! :good:

Decap brine shrimp powder and crushed tetra prima i found works best... microworm is probably a better option and BBS but the microworm just freaked me out ater a while lol little tiny wriggling worms in my house isnt a nice thought :p

Microworm is a no no as far as I'm concerned.
It just hasn't worked for my babies ever and I was a worm breeder and ebay seller.

Use to work perfect for me had around a 90% survival rate with just feeding that alone for the first 3-4 weeks then went to finely crushed tetra prima and decap brine, now i swapped becasue i just dont like the fact of microworm in my house. now with crushed prima and powered decap brine i still get the same sort of survival rates... think it's each to there own.

Lol, so many different methods and ways eh.

Conclusion, just do what works best for you!!!

I feed microworms because I like the idea that the fry can have a continuous source of fresh food.

i feed mine finely crushed- spirulina , brineshrimp , bloodworm , blackworm , mealworm , algae , variety wafers for the first 2 weeks in a net then move them into my hex tank and they do fine , feed the same stuff to them in there as the shrimp and micro rasboras also eat it
they seem to do perfectly ok - now i've managed to get them to hatch

I've got some really fine (finer than icing sugar) spirulina.
These eggs were laid Sunday, there's 11 in my hatchery and I spotted another half dozen or so behind the cave.
I'm guessing they should hatch sometime between now and Saturday - fingers crossed.
