Hello, Would like to ask your opinions about my Threadfins.

Yesterday I stocked my tank for the very first time, I got the following:

15 Threadfin Rainbowfish (5 males and 10 females)
6 Red Cherry Shrimps
2 Assassin Snails

Did not feed them yesterday at all. And they seem to be a bit more settled in now and the shrimps are out and about, fish not schooling together, all doing their own thing which I take as a good thing

I have noticed that 2 of my threadfins 1 male and 1 female have got some sort of white strand substance which is a bit unsightly, here's a pic :

Not the best picture but you should be able to see a whitish strand of, I assume, poop or something.

Is this normal or have these two have a parasite or illness?

Advice would be great.
Do bear in mind I have Red Cherry Shrimps and snails which I don't want to be affected by   adding any chemicals/treatments as I have heard/ read that shrimps are particularly sensitive to such things.

And I do not have a quarantine tank yet.

Thanks

I wouldn't worry just yet. They have been under stress from being moved plus you never know what they were fed at the fish store which may have resulted in white poop. Just keep an eye on them and see how they get on.

Yup, thats what i was hoping someone will say that it may be down to stress,

Will give it a few days to a week before start worrying again if carries on.

Amazing really, I am worrying about everything on my new tank set up and fish, never thought I would be this way! lol

People usually say I'm the laid back guy who never worries about much, look at me now!

Haha, a while back I was looking for an old thread and I had a click through some of my posts when I was just starting out. I was just the same as you lol. You can't help but feel a bit unsure at the start so you may as well ask the question and set your mind at ease :)

Try and watch your fish for a while after feeding time to see if you can catch them pooping, not always an easy thing! They may be a bit slow to start taking food at first but usually after the first week are taking food more readily.
