Has Anyone Seen Or Bred Electric Blue Rams?

lol

do you think you could breed an electric blue with a german blue ram?

Hi, new to the site, hope to get some useful tips from time to time....... as for your question, i brought 2 of these beautiful fish recently ( £40/pair ) and was told by the assistant that if they bred, the babies wouldn't turn out blue, i guess that would count for german blue too, but i do have a couple of dwarf cichlids in my tank too & the babies would come out blue if they managed to breed together, im not expert enough to disagree with her comments, she did seem to know her stuff, so i guess she must be right. Can anyone on here confirm if she is right with her comments.

cheers - mango. :)

They are stunning and i was so tempted to buy some but they were areound £25 each in my LFS!!!

I went for gold ones instead :)

Ghipsi, where in North Wales are you?

I'd love to take a couple of the babies if you get any. What are your water parameters?
Even if they just turn out as GBRs, I'd take some

This is an old thread so I doubt he/she will answer but they have electic blue rams at the green machine in wrexham, in great condition too :good:

Yea, I realised that after I posted it.

I was at green machine earlier today, looking to get some cardinals but they were out. Saw the rams, they were gorgeous, but £20 each seems a bit expensive...

That is expensive  No different from a lot of places though, and TGM is good place to get fish from. Where do you get your fish from around the chester area? the nearest places to me are grovsvenor garden centre and jaydee aquatics, I see dead fish a lot whenever I go to either...

I am waiting for them to get cardinals in too  Apparently a load came in and most of them were dead so they send them back!

£20 each is expensive...

Why not try these guys..

x5 for £40 or £10.99 each?

As much as I love the colouring of my GBR`s I do quite like the Blues because they`re different.
I`d love to get a pair of the Blues but as I already have 2 pairs of GBR`s I don`t know if a pair of the Blues would be ok in my tank.

We've had these in Canada for a while, I can usually find them in my LFS, although they're going for $20 (CAN) which is a lot cheaper than the UK I believe.

I love rams, I just wouldn't be up to the maintainence of them. I love the look of GBRs, Golds, Ballons, and the EBs. I'm certain they are natural as in bred for colour, not dyed. I would assume they went through same process as to get EBJDs. They seem to have been bred for some stability to if they bred like that. By that I mean they worked on breeding in some stability instead of color alone.
My LFS had a few inchers while ago for maybe $7 each.

what extra maintainence do they need?

perfect water, higher temps, GBRs are more senseitive. I'm not usually home and rarely have time to do anything major. I do do a %10 on my 29 community every day or so but, thats mandatory to keep the debri off sand.

BUMP!.....

Saw these yesterday when I picked up my Red Spotted Sev... £18.50 and they only had one in the tank :(

Will definitely be getting a pair when/if they get any back in stock...

Stunning fish, all the pics I've seen don't do them justice!

Hello all. After searching the web I found this thread. I myself have just bought some EBR's. I have just setup a 14Gal breeder tank for the pair I have. I lost the first spawn in my community tank. Didn't expect them to breed so soon. Here is the link to 3 picks of them. http://www.flickr.com/photos/31244464@N04/?saved=1
