unless you are only having brown outs, a UPS probably wouldnt do very well

an apc 350 cee is 210 watts, retails around 60 dollars lets say your tank uses only half that (105 watts) the battery life time only lasts 18 minutes

battery back-up systems are generally used to protect data, it has the ability to shut your pc down in the event of a power outage to prevent data corruption on your hard drive

on the other hand I have a battery charger with an inverter hookup I use in the event i leave my inverter on over the weekend (which i have a tendancy of doing. ) I also use it to test EAS power packs at acounts that dont have power yet.

vector has a nifty one

VEC012POB

it comes with a 250 psi tire inflator, 12 volt dc power supply, and has enough power to jump start a car.

>>> lasts 18 minutes

... At half load, i.e. at 105Watts. Since we are talking about a power filter here which typically only pulls 10-20W I'd expect the thing to last ages, (note the non-linearity in the power decay rate).

The point being, if it works at all. Several UPS designs have been tried by members posting here and none have worked at all.

I still suspect the load, but the waveform argument also has merit.
