My Marineland Penguin 350 bio wheels decided to stop spinning. I went and cleans everything with a brush yet... they are moving very poorly.

Question: I've heard people use vaseline when they have trouble getting a watertight seal on their filters. Is this true?

My impeller makes a clicking sound when running dry and sometimes stops altogether. It's a fluval u4.

yep, thats your problem, running DRY... the motor has a pin at the top which pushes against the impeller, when its in the water its fine because there is the drag of the water to keep it stuck down, but out of water it just spinds wildly around... running dry will also damage your motor if left for any period of time say over 3 minutes...

My primer is stuck down on my filter. Type in sig.

Meh, i dont really have that much experience with externals but is there a way of getting to the primer to push it back up again and somehow lubricating it?

yep...... my sponge blocks the hole where the propeler is stopping the outlet flow alltogether, i did post about it but no one had a helpful reply, its a fluval u1 i ended up puting something under the sponge to keep it raised, dont know if thats ok or not?

Yeah its ok! i have the same problem with a lot of my internals... as marie said, put some ceramic rings or summat under it and it will work fine :good:

Blubble.....where's all the advice??

my Fluval 305 external appears to be leaking between the two main parts of the housing - what is the probable cause and what would you suggest I do to fix it?

Sorry guys, but i havent been on to reply due to my laptop having a virus and having the entire of windows wiped...

Probable cause? faulty seal/gasket or a crack in the housing somewhere... you could sillicone the crack if you found it or put rubber bands in... but if the thing is still in warranty you could get a replacement :)

On my penguin bio-wheel the bio-wheel on one side is a little bit slower than the other one. what do I do!!!!!!!!?!!?

common problem with biowheels is that they jam up and stop... on the biowheel at school i used a small amount of vaseline on the bearings to keep it smooth and it worked alright...

it is a common fault mate, it is normally either the bearings or the wheel scraping against something...

once again sorry for the absence of replys but when you get a virus and it wipes everything you're kinds screwed

I'll be honest Blubble, my question was set up as a test of your knowledge, but fair play you appear to have answered each with aplomb!

why thankyou... normally what i do know on a subject is factual and generally works... sometimes i get it wrong (like trusting my cousin with my laptop ) but i try and be right most of the time
