Has Anyone Ever Had A Tank/stand Tip Over?

I don't mean the stand collapse, I mean something causing the whole lot to literally come crashing down forward. I don't know why I've got it into my head that it's possible, even under the weight of 96 litres of water. I have 2 smalls kids. I hope someone can put my mind at rest.

Have it build into the wall. That way, the only way it'll tip over is if the house will come crashing down .

If you have it on a flat surface that's wider than the tank, then you'll have no problem keeping it up. Just basic physics.

I know, I'm being dumb. I can't move the 96 litre I already have set up, not at all. I know a 3yr old won't be able to either

i know what yo mean we have 4 kids - 7 to 8 months in age - and you think allsorts, but you've now got me worrying about them tipping the tank! lol
like you said if you cant move it they wont be able to tip it

I wouldn't be too concerned unless the tank was placed on something that wasn't built to hold an aquarium.

Fully filled even a small aquarium weighs a few hundred pounds (~ 10 lbs per gallon), and thus isn't likely to fall unless it's on something not sturdy enough to support it. In fact that is the most risky thing about putting an aquarium on say a regular table...the table might hold the vertical weight okay, but as soon as stress is put on it laterally the whole thing goes down.

I'm confused; all 4 are about 7 to 8 months in age?

i doubt you kids have the strength to topple the tank. if your stand is stable and maybe wall drilled, you should have nothing to worry

I grew up with my mum and dad having a house full of fish tanks of varying sizes. I'm the eldest of 7 children and can only rmember one of the tanks tipping over and smashing and thats because it was empty and weighed next to nothing. The only other smash I remember is when my little brother was playing golf with stones in the lounge (I was babysitting at the time so obviously not doing my job ). One hit one of the tanks and gallons of water and 2 v.large oscars sloshed all over the floor. Needless to say I was grounded for a long time .

I have 3 children of my own now and had a 6ft tank when they were very little with no problems. I now have a 4ft and a fry tank and my girls (8 & 11) have their own (28ltr) tank in their room. Never had any tanks pulled over or smashed B)
