No it wasn't directed at the crypt statement..but at the prospect of taxidermy of a pet..you know..stuffing a dead pet and displaying it.

A crypt isn't actually just a large area to store multiple bodies on top of one another though...a crypt is an underground area used to house several bodies in seperate sealed or unsealed areas. No seal would probably equal stink I'd imagine, but that's how they did it in the olden days (of course, it was underground so I'd imagine it was your own fault if you went down there..if you smelled it  ) .

When multiple bodies are stored on top of the earth (as oposed to uderground) it's called a mausoleum (I know this only because my grandad is in one). So I'd have to think what you have for your fish was a mausoleum, since it's above ground. :)

a Rescued betta RIP thread thats a great idea

Could have name, where you got him from, what was wrong with him, what you did for him and then when he died :(

Its paying respect for a fish that deserved better treatment, at least a thread will help other people become aware that rescuing a betta doesnt necessarily mean it will survive, but at least everyone that cares (and there are a hell of alot of us on here) knew what you did and can pay their respects :)

that would be kinda sad... if i lost a fish and put him on the wall... i would cry everytime i saw it!!
but isnt seeing it better than never seeing it again?
well i have good memories of him :( i would hate to wake up in the mornin only to find my fish! not only would it freak me out (cause i'd forget the second i went to bed :p ) but it would also bring back the memories of watching it suffer than seeing it die! that poor lil bellly up fish!

I was in the dog grooming room of my lfs the other day and I saw something that I thought was a cute, and respectful remembrance to deceased pets. One of the lady's that worked there had cross-stitched a picture of each of her deceased dogs and then framed them and attatched the pet's name tag to the frame. If I had the time, I would love to do something like that for my pets.

I also think that if you had a nice picture, and framed it with the pet's information, it would also be a great way to keep their memory alive. I've had my last 2 pet dogs cremated after they passed, and although sometimes I think it's a little weird, I haven't lived at a permanent enough place that I wanted to bury them. I can take them with me now and I do plan on burying them one day when I have a permanent place I want to put them.

Or better yet, we could stuff them, and start up a betta museum!
but only the fancey and wild kinds, so we can educate people on betta types and all that the pet stores dont have for sale.
