Harlequin Rasboras...

I have 6 Copper Harlequins in my 126L tank, they are crazy! They have been there since the second week and are all doing fine. They love bubbles and zooming along the side of the tank :p

wow how many colours to harleys come in?
Mine are gold harleys :good:

Aye i thought they must have been accidentally sucked up the first few times, but the 3rd time i had my vac wedged in so wasn't moving it around and was able to watch them swim up the tube themselves :)

They seem to enjoy fighting against the current.

The Dwarf Neon Rainbows are a hell of a lot more active than my Harlequins, but i've since found out i have 2 males and 2 females apparently this ratio is wrong it should be 2 females for every male.
They do chase each other around the tank seemingly all the time, which concerned me at first but even after a month or so, none have any injuries so it just seems more a show of force than anything else.

They really bring the tank to life though, i especially love the way the zoom around the tank almost quicker than your eyes can keep up, then stop in an instant to a absolute stop.
I keep expecting to see their eyes pop out after every emergency stop, i certainly wish my car would stop as fast :)

Cheers
Mark

LOL :hyper: they sound good fun, much like danios who are like fish on speed or something...lol

LOL :p Mine like to go to the bottom of the tank then zoom up to the top racing each other. There great to watch, and really really nice looking. A light brown with a black spot and a bright orange zigzag type line :)

LOL, so I think Instead of getting a shoal of Lemaon tetras i may go for the Harleys instead. I have kept both x ray and black pahntom tetras and they are'nt that intersting so I think the harleys should be more entertaining.

from my limited knowledge of neon tetra (which i found the most boring of fish) these harleys are much much better, more entertaining even when shy!

HI i have a rekord 60 and i have 6 neon tetras 6 harliquins and 2 red dwarf gouramis and they do fine i am slightly over stocked but the brilliant jewul ssuper compact filters are brilliant they keep my water crystal clear

Mine'sa rekord 60 too.....it's gone from 5 neons, 6 zebras a male betta and a pitbull pleco.....to currently....one male betta and the pitbull pleco....neons were being naughty and got sent back to lfs....danios just proved not very hardy so traded them in too,

the plan now when I get rid of a little bacterial lump on my betta is to add the 5 harleys to replace the neons, then I am torn between getting some galaxy rasboras or dwarf neon rainbows....big size difference I know....ideally I'd want the bigger rainbows to make size look good, but the rarity of the rasboras is tempting, as I wouldn't mind trying to breed them, it would be a shame for some stupid random person to buy them because they are pretty and let them go to waste!

Not sure if it's your light or your camera or both, but your Harlequins are looking really pale mate.

I know my aquarium light has a redish tint but still my Harlequins are a vivid red.

what sort are your harleys though, mine are gold and look exactly how they are meant to, pale fins, etc.....theer black markings show darker in real life, and there's no lighting in that tank, it's only a QT tank.
Mine will never be red :)
and as I've found out I think there are at least 3 different colour types of harleys!

here there are 3 colour ways for harleys pictured on this page.....and the guy earlier said he had copper harleys

Ahhhaaa thanks for clearing that up.

I just assumed there was one type of Harlequin Rasboras doh

Hi, Is it better to have a combination of males and females or does it not matter?
I wouldnt want them them to squabble you see like some tetras do.
