Harlequin Rasboras...

I tend to agree about the neon tetra nice colours but they are boring they just sit around in one spot.

yeah, they just sit and look like they are constantly confused by everything...lol....no other fish in my tank is that dumb!

There another harlequin thats more stunning had them there called think it pork chop or lamb chop harleqins.

thanks andy that's great, was trying to research them through google...takes forever!

I was thinking of next fish to be either a shoal of Lemon tetras or Harlequin rasboras, any suggestions on which are more interesting and more active???

I've had my harleys 2-3 weeks now, they are quite active and hang tightly together, they are VERY nervous fish, but they get over this more each day, but definately even too timid to eat the first few days.

I've kept them on and off for a long time, they are very hardy and love to shoal. I have 12 coming tomorrow, can't wait they are so sweet x

hehehe, from the minimal experience I have of them so far I think they are cute too, much better than the neon tetra they replaced!

Strange how different batches of the same fish have completely different personality's.

I have 11 Harlequin Rasboras and they are by far the most daring fish in the tank.

Every time my hand goes in the water they swim straight to it and a few of the braver ones even take a taste :hyper:
Likewise every single time i clean my substrate they swim up the bloody vac, first few times i thought maybe i'd moved it to quickly, but now watching they swim in groups straight up the tube, turn around and swim flat out against the current

The Dwarf Neon Rainbows are right pussys in comparison and are nearly double the size, even worse the males hide at the slightest knock or when ever the tank cover is opened

I do find though that there are a couple of ring leaders in the harlequins, they sort of swim towards the source of curiosity but keep turn round to check the others are behind them.
So maybe is just the fact theres a few more of them that they feel braver.

Still entertaining fish :)

Cheers
Mark

lol that's so funny, I've had one or two finding themselves accidentally sucked up my gravel vac...lol!

Funnily enough contemplating dwarf neon rainbows as the next addition to replace the danios I used to have, as they are meant to be similarly active.
I think my harleys will warm up in the main tank, as they have no plants in QT tank just a hamster TV thing which doesn't provide a huge amount of cover......so I think they'll like a fairly planted tank :)

not sure whether to go dwarf neon or galaxy rasboras though!
