hi guys i currently have a fully cycled tank (20us gal) and iv bought a few plants and they withered and died :(

the only thing left is the java moss (which) is in great condition and the amazon sword plant(its doing ok a few brown spts here and their)

3 other plants died so i got some plastic ones to give cover to the fish

i havea 15w flou beam but i cover about 1/4 of it so there is a shaded effect for my tetras

stats are amonia 0 nitrite 0

and i do add a liquid form of fertilizer once a month

do you have any suggestions for hardy plants that grow tall?

i want to get rid of my plastic plants

your running less than 1watt per gallon, so you need lots of low light plants, i`d uncover the light so it all sines into the tank, when the plants take the fish can hide in the leaves,

try some cabomba, thats a never fail plant, and some form of crypto should work aswell, java fern is also a fool proof plant.

home that helps

is there anyway to get more WPG w/o making the tank anymore brighter?

i have S. American fish like tertas and cories

and i have a white sand substrate

so they look really pale and ugly when i uncover the light(since they adapt to their surroundings)

BTW ty for response

any more low light plants?

The only way to increase light is to add a higher wattage bulb or an extra bulb if your hood has room for 2 and youre only using one. You can successfully grow a planted tank at 1wpg. I have as you can see in my signature. My 10 gal UK tank only has an 11W bulb and is not wide enough to add a higher wattage one, so I had to make do. Theres a link in my signature to easy to grow plants. Ive got java fern on log, thai onion plants at the back, baby tears in the back right corner and an amazon sword front right. Ive also heard that straight vallis and some anubis are fairly hardy

Hydrophila tend to grow quite quickly, root easily and have broad leaves for shelter. I have a vallis and hornwort which grow quite fast but I think i have the most delinquent fish ever as they tend to munch on it and whenever i come home from work theres always some leaves floating at the top. However, they don't tend to touch the hydrophila.

Go to wal-mart and find in the aquarium section bulbs to Aponogeton plants, they grow fast, are hardy, and are real cheap, its about 3 dollars for 6 or so bulbs. I just got some and they're growing fast in my 3 gallon female betta tank.
