hardiest/ easiest dwarf cichlid for a beginner

Ok cool so you have a bit over a 45p in size, the height is not too important for these fish its all about the footprint of the tank (the width and length).

I had a search on Seriously Fish and it recommends these Apistos for 45cm tanks (yours is 50cm)

Hongsloi is a really beautiful fish, and according to Seriously Fish can accept a really wide range of water conditions (including my own which I didnt know!).

thank you for everyone helping me out and giving me your opinions. I decided on the golden eye cichlid, as i read it is the hardiest, and is also a beautiful fish. I currently have him in 79 degree water, is that an okay temperature for this species?

79 is a little high for them, really nice little fish though. Very timid so make sure the tank is well planted. If you just have one you might want to add a small school of tetras to give them a bit of confidence in the tank, a small school of Ember or Green Neon Tetras (two of the smallest tetras) would be good candidates - more common tetras like regular Neons or Glowlights would be too big though.

Thank you! My heater is to strong for my tank, so I been playing with it to bring the tempature lower, so we’ll see what happens lol, but it’s been at a constant 78-79, I’m trying to bring it down to 76 or so
