Have a 250l tank with 4 Hap44's in. which I've had set up for a while. Looking to increase stocking & was wondering what would go well with these fish.

Have to say the Hap44 male looks stunning!

Ideally other Victorian basin species, a lot of people mix them with malawi's too but i think keeping them with their own kind would be the better option.

I've always found it quite tough to find decent Victorians - I was planning on slowly transferring the peacocks from my 260 and keeping a couple of different groups in there, but seems to be a lack of decent stock around - still the plan though for later in the year when I get tank #2.

SP44's and Pundamilia Mkobe Island are among the more common that I've seen traded, but I would go for something a bit special like Ptyochromis hippo point, Yssichromis piceatus, or Neochromis omnicaeruleus which are a bit rarer but stunning fish if you can find them!

Well I ended up with some zebra obliquidens. Settled & all seem happy!

Very Nice fish are the zeb obliq.. If you could try get any of the rarer species like nj said that would be awesome. Do you have a full tank pic?? The SP44 pic wasn't there last time i looked, hes a nice male :D

Firstly, what a great looking looking sp44 - get him in the fish of the month comp! I really love Victorians, and wish they were more widely available.

Zebra obliquidens is a good choice - I've got a trio in with my peacocks - was trialling it for a bit as they are still pretty small at 2 inches and wasnt sure how the mix would go, but no-one has paid them the slightest bit of attention, if anything they are a bit bolshier than some of the others in there 3 times their size. And they mean there is always some activity in the rock pile!

Would love to see a full tank shot.
