Hey guys.

i was just woondering what you guys think about this? > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzSRweq_5j0

Is it the future of fish keeping or just a gimmick?

It seems like things can go sour fast in that tank. I saw tiger barbs and from personal experience, i would think they would need something wider than 4 1/2 inches.

Do you know anyone that has one of these?

Part of me thinks this is really awesome but part of me wonders if that is what is best for the fish. It's about them, not us.

Feel free to post your thoughts.

Best regards,

Its absolutely bull. Tiger barbs having problem? I saw a silver dollar in one! Clearly these people don't know about or care about the fish.

It's not a gimmick. The paintings are in the wall. It doesn't look like it, but they create a space in the wall and put a lining around the tank to create a "picture frame" look.

tanks like this are real! my LFS has one ( stocked)
i like the look of them, for maybe a plant garden, but not any good for fish IMHO

I've seen a different one with more depth and a silver frame, It was about 7 foot long!

By gimmick I meant that it's not suitable for the purpose that they're saying it is.
And also those 'tanks' aren't built into the wall. You only have to watch how the fish move to know that they are only as deep as they look.

If stock is selected carefully then where's the problem? If the fish can turn around then it's fine, and the comment about only being able to swim up or down, swimming is swimming, regardless of direction.

i'm half and half on these...

there are fish which would go in it nicely, but certainly nothing bigger than neons

the only real issue I have with that vid, is how they are supposedly so easy to look after, hecleans the front monthly??? what about water changes?

and if you really want a tank that makes you the envy of your friends, it needs to be at least 1000G and have sharks or something in :good:

The only wall tanks are like are those that are built into the wall and are like full size tanks that link both rooms. Those that you linked are just for people who keep betta's. Gimmicks.

I would have thought a betta would be too big?

aren't they too shallow for a betta to turn nicely?

anyway, my previous example of a neon tatra was probably a bit rubbish, since they're pretty fast and active. but that kind of size...

"all you have to worry about is feeding the fish!" bull****

i have seen some that you install into the wall that would actually work, this one doesnt.

and i saw a silver dollar, yikes.
