Has anyone else done this?

Im ashamed to admit it... I occassionally feed Chance his bloodworms by hand LOL!!

He takes them very nicely from me - usually I'll stick one to the end of my finger & then he'll take it off (um, the bloodworm, that is....LOL!).

:)

What is there to be ashamed about? Provided your hands are clean, I would not think there is anything wrong with doing this...

A friend's friend says she has been able to get her betta(s) to jump out of the water to eat out of her hand. I don't see any reason for her to lie, so I guess it is possible to do.

My Hawaii will eat from my hand... but that's the last time I'll try to get a betta to do that because whenever my hand's in his tank now he attacks it thinking that he'll get food, lol. :p

Well that explains why, now when I use the vacuum thing in his gravel, Chance won't get out of the way!! He always used to, now he just follows it around LOL

Sure, fishy...the suction cup thing is going to feed you :)

I was feeding mine peas tonight (he loves them more than blood worms, I think), and a piece I cut up was stuck to my finger, so I stuck the tip of my finger just in the water, and the pea was still sticking to it, but my betta grabed it right off from my finger. I thought it was pretty cool...

My boyfriend has a female VT who will jump out of the water to get food from between my fingers. :)

I was told bettas were jumpers, but I didn't expect them to actually jump clear out of the water... εo does it way more often than I'd expect. He tries to catch the pellets as they fall into the water, or if you get some to stick to your hand due to moisture he'll jump and take it off. I have yet to do this personally, but my brother loves playing with fish.

I suppose the same thing happens when I use a turkey baster to suction up excess debris, since I also use it to feed him bloodworms.

I'm surprised at the jumping out of the water though, would not have thought it to be so widespread. :p

I use frozen blood worms as I struggle to get fresh ones in winter in summer they grow in my water butt but I dont like having them on my hand and my big angel fish got impatient the other day and took one off my finger for me..how do other peeps feed frozen worms...excuse typing got small dog asleep on lap...

:look: You should see it when I'm feeding the girls in my grow-out... there's a swarm of Bettas all attacking my finger. It doesn't hurt at all, it's really cute!

all our fish will eat out of our hands to, i tried it after reading this post, the platys, danios, guppus and gouriammis all tried to get it from ur fingers!..cool!! :D

I feed pretty much all my pets by hand, bettas and community fish too. I actually almost never net bettas either, I do it the thai way (in the hand). They are really used to it and it doesnt damage fins or stress them out like a net.

I also raise my toads with handfeeding. Other herp breeders could not beleive I could do it but I train them fron the time they are still toadlets with tails. They craw right onto your finger and eat off of it.:))

I also will take my daughter's teeny finger and swirl it in algae and let her hang it in the community tank. the mollies and livebearers go crazy and are all over her., you can feel their little teeth but its very soft She loves it soo much! hehe

My husband used to feed our vts freeze dried brine shrimp by hand when he'd put some on his finger to get the ghost shrimp going. LOL
